Jayapura – Support for the 2024 regional elections that are safe, peaceful and comfortable continues to grow in Papua. One of them came from the Tabi Traditional Youth of Jayapura City.
The call for peaceful regional elections was conveyed in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with Kesbangpol Papua Province and Papua Regional Police in Abepura, Saturday 13 July 2024.
The FGD was attended by community components as well as a number of organizations and non-governmental organizations.
Chairman of the Jayapura City Tabi Traditional Youth Presidium, Reynold Tjoe, said the FGD was deliberately carried out considering that the 2024 regional elections were getting closer.
Apart from that, there are stages of forming a selection committee for selecting DPKP and DPRK candidates. Where this FGD will be a forum for providing good education to the community.
“Through FGD, Kesbangpol Papua can also explain directly. “The same goes for the Papua Regional Police regarding cooperation between the National Police and Tabi Indigenous Youth,” explained Reynold Tjoe.
He ensured that the Tabi Indigenous Youth would always be open to creating a conducive security and social security situation in the land of Tabi, especially Papua Province.
“Our hope is the same as society in general, namely that we must first love this land because with love we can create peace on this land,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Chief Director of the Institute for the Study and Empowerment of Indigenous Peoples in Papua (Lengkap Papua), Hutri Yewi, strongly supports this activity.
“So we are looking after the situation and conditions together so that the youth of Port Numbay, especially in these 14 villages, can embrace and maintain security,” said Hutri.
As a partner of the Tabi traditional youth, I will also continue to support positive activities. The most important thing is capacity strengthening activities on how to safeguard environmental issues and political rights for indigenous women in Port Numbay.
