Jayapura – The Papua Police Chief, Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri, S.I.K., M.H, officially closed the First Wave Police Officer Training Program for the 2024 academic year at the Papua Police Training School (SPN) field on Thursday (July 11, 2024).

A total of 489 police officers were inaugurated, including 294 from the Papua Regional Police and 195 from the West Papua Regional Police.

The ceremony was attended by the Vice Chairman of the Papua Regional Bhayangkari, Mrs. Nova Patrige Renwarin, key officials of the Papua Regional Police, Human Resources Head of the West Papua Regional Police, Commissioner Arif Hidayat, S.I.K., Chief of Air Force Base Silas Papare Personnel, Lt. Col. Ridwan Syaparudhin, S.E., M.S, Director of Jayapura Aviation Polytechnic, Musrikona, ST, and Deputy Director II of Jayapura Aviation Polytechnic, Nikolas Makanuay.

In his address, Inspector General Fakhiri expressed gratitude as the leader of the Papua Regional Police, noting that the cadets had undergone approximately five months of rigorous training at the Papua Police Training School.

“I hope that as they are inaugurated as police officers, they will become the frontline defenders for both the Papua and West Papua Regional Police, truly serving the community with sincerity,” said the Police Chief.

He also emphasized that the newly inaugurated officers should act as communication bridges between the police and the communities they serve.

“These new officers are specifically prepared to integrate directly into the communities of Papua. Most of them are native Papuans, so I am confident there will be no barriers,” he added.

Furthermore, Inspector General Fakhiri stated that the newly appointed officers are also prepared for the upcoming simultaneous regional elections in November.

“After a short break, they will return to the Papua Regional Police. They will be divided into three units: Mobile Brigade (Brimob), Human Resources Bureau, and Samapta. They are being prepared for the November elections,” he said.

He added that with the establishment of three new autonomous regions in Papua, these officers will be assigned to various strategic locations.

“I hope that by gradually fulfilling personnel needs in each police precinct, we will ensure that when new regional police departments are established, they will not face personnel shortages,” he concluded.
