Papua- Head of Cartenz Peace Operations, Senior Commissioner Faizal Ramadhani, responded to accusations made by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) regarding the air attack in Pogapa Village, Homeyo District, Intan Jaya Regency, Papua. Faizal Ramadhani emphasized that the KKB must provide concrete evidence regarding these accusations.
In the same context, the West Papua National Liberation Army – Free Papua Organization (TPNPB-OPM) asked the Indonesian government to take responsibility for the burning of three civilian houses which they claimed were the result of the air attack.
They also urged the government to open access for humanitarian agencies to directly investigate the condition of the area and the refugees affected by the armed conflict in Pogapa Village, Intan Jaya, Central Papua.
KKB also accused the government of deploying military helicopters from 4-5 May 2024 with the mission of pursuing the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) Regional Defense Command (Kodap) VIII Intan Jaya.
The situation in Papua continues to be in the spotlight, with reports of armed conflict and human rights violations continuing to emerge.
