Jayapura – The open plenary meeting recapitulation of the 2024 provincial election vote counting results in Papua and the three new autonomous regions (DOB) entered its 7th day. The entire series of activities that have been carried out are said to have been carried out safely and conducively.
“From our observations in the field, the implementation of the plenary meeting in Papua and the three new autonomous regions ran safely and conducively,” said Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Commissioner Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo in a written statement, Tuesday, March 12 2024.
Benny said that based on the results of the reports received, the regencies or cities that had implemented the Provincial Plenary, for Papua Province, were Sarmi Regency, Supiori Regency, Biak Numfor Regency, Mamberamo Raya Regency, Keerom Regency and Waropen Regency. Meanwhile, South Papua Province is Merauke Regency, Boven Digoel Regency and Mappi Regency, Asmat Regency.
“For Central Papua Province, namely Nabire Regency, Intan Jaya Regency, Dogiyai Regency, Deiyai Regency and Paniai Regency. Mountain Papua Province, namely Central Mamberamo Regency and Yalimo Regency,” said Benny.
Benny said that this open plenary activity was secured by Operation Mantap Brata Cartenz 2023/2024 personnel. Apart from carrying out security at the plenary venue, these personnel also patrol places that are considered prone to criminal acts.
“We convey that the personnel carrying out their duties in the field are to ensure that the security and social security situation in the jurisdiction of the Papua Regional Police is safe and conducive,” said Benny.
It is certain that the police will continue to provide education to the community to jointly maintain security and public order (kamtibmas) in their respective environments. The public is advised to report to Bhabinkamtibmas or Babinsa if there are indications of disturbances to security and social security.
