Jayapura – Head of the Cartenz Damai Task Force, Kombes Faizal Rahmadani, stated that the search for Susi Air Pilot, Captain Philips Mark Mehterns, who was held hostage by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) is still being carried out.
The search has so far been centered around the Nduga Regency area, Papua Mountains.
“The Cartenz Damai Task Force team together with other units are continuing to try to free the hostages being held captive by the KKB led by Egianus Kogoya,” said Head of the Cartenz Peace Task Force Kombes Faizal Rahmadani in Jayapura, Friday (16/5/2023).
The former Dirkrimum Polda Papua admitted that it was not easy to search the area because of the natural conditions at an altitude above 3,000 meters above sea level, which made it difficult for members to move.
Even so, his party continues to try to free the pilot in a safe condition.
“Members are continuing to move closer to the locations where Pilot Philip is suspected of hiding,” said Faizal without going into further detail.
Previously, the religious figure Pdt. Benny Giay stated that he would assist in efforts to free the Susi Air Pilot so that the victim could be reunited with his family.
