Nabire – The Central Papua Provincial Government continues to strengthen the protection and fulfillment of children’s rights through the creation of a safe, comfortable, and friendly educational environment for all students. The effort is part of the government’s commitment in realizing Central Papua as a child-worthy province as well as building quality human resources.

The commitment was realized through the declaration of Central Papua Province Worthy of Children, one of the focuses of which is to ensure that schools and learning environments are free from various forms of violence, discrimination, and bullying. Thus, educational units are expected to not only be a place to acquire knowledge, but also a space for children to grow, develop, and feel protected.

Executive (Plt.) The Head of the Central Papua Education and Culture Office, Nurhaida, said that the creation of a safe educational environment is an important part in ensuring the fulfillment of children’s rights in the field of education.

“This policy ensures that schools and learning environments in Central Papua must be a safe, child-friendly place, free from violence, discrimination, and bullying, so that there are no more Central Papuan children who neglect their right to study,” said Nurhaida in Nabire, Saturday.

According to him, school has a strategic role in shaping the character and future of the young generation. Therefore, a safe learning atmosphere needs to be a common concern, not only the responsibility of the government and educators, but also involving parents, students, and the entire community environment.

Nurhaida explained that the policy is part of a fundamental change in human resource development in Central Papua. The government does not want the development of education to be only oriented towards academic achievement, but also pays attention to aspects of protection, social health, and child growth and development.

“Education is not only directed to improve academic ability, but also to ensure that children grow up in an environment that provides protection and a sense of security,” he said.

Through this commitment, the local government encourages the creation of an educational culture that respects every child regardless of background. School is expected to be able to be a space that encourages children to learn, express, interact, and develop their potential without fear of violence or bullying.

The Central Papua Provincial Government also hopes that the commitment to a child-worthy province can be strengthened through the collaboration of all stakeholders. With a safe and child-friendly educational environment, the development of human resources in Central Papua is expected to run more optimally and produce a generation that is not only academically intelligent, but also has character, confidence, and is able to contribute to the progress of the region.
