Wamena – The Papua Highlands Education and Culture Office (Disdikbud) says the establishment of the Global Training Center (Global TC) School is a strategic initiative to improve the quality of human resources by nurturing high-achieving students from an early stage of their academic journey.
Acting Head of the Papua Highlands Education and Culture Office, Simon Sembor, said the Global TC School was established as a special learning center for outstanding students from the province’s eight regencies before they continue their studies at higher education institutions.
“Global TC is designed to prepare the best students from the eight regencies of Papua Highlands by strengthening their academic capabilities before they pursue higher education, both in Indonesia and abroad,” Simon said.
He explained that the program will recruit students who rank among the top five in their respective senior high schools and vocational schools. Selected participants will receive academic enrichment, capacity-building programs, and intensive mentoring to prepare them for admission to universities and future academic challenges.
According to Simon, the initiative is part of the Papua Highlands Provincial Government’s ‘Smart Papua’ vision. Through this program, the government aims to produce a generation of young people with strong competencies, character, and the ability to compete at both the national and international levels.
Beyond enhancing students’ academic potential, the Global TC School is also expected to expand access to quality education for young people across Papua Highlands. With structured guidance and continuous development, graduates of the program are expected to continue their education at leading universities in Indonesia and overseas.
The Papua Highlands Provincial Government reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the education sector through various quality improvement programs, with the goal of producing competitive and highly skilled human resources capable of contributing to regional and national development.
