Yahukimo – The Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force together with the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Yahukimo Police moved quickly to respond to public reports regarding the alleged attempted shooting that occurred in the Ruko Block A area, Dekai City, Yahukimo Regency, Thursday (4/30/2026) morning.
Deputy Head of the 2026 Cartenz Peace Operation Public Relations Task Force, AKBP Andria, S.I.K., when met by the media (30/4), explained that the incident occurred around 08.40 WIT when a resident with the initials S (54) was about to open his business. When the victim was in front of the house and preparing to use a motorcycle, two unknown people (OTK) who were crowded around the location, then turned around and approached the victim.
“One of the perpetrators allegedly took out an assembled firearm and fired one shot at the victim. The shot did not hit the victim, but damaged the speedometer of the victim’s motorcycle,” explained AKBP Andria.
After receiving the report, the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force together with the Yahukimo Police immediately moved to the location to process the crime scen, collect evidence, examine victims and witnesses, and carry out patrols and screening around Dekai City to anticipate the potential for further disturbances.
AKBP Andria emphasized that the quick response is part of the apparatus’ commitment in following up on every community report professionally. He also appreciated the active role of the residents who immediately provided preliminary information to the officers so that the response could be carried out quickly.
From the results of the temporary examination, there were no casualties in the incident. Material loss in the form of damage to the speedometer part of the victim’s motorcycle due to gunshots. Currently, the victim and a number of witnesses have been questioned at the Yahukimo Police Headquarters to support the investigation process.

“We ensure that every community report will be followed up quickly and professionally. We will respond to violent acts like this with firm and measured steps in order to maintain the safety of the community,” he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of Cartenz 2026 Peace Operation, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., appealed to the public to remain calm and not easily affected by the situation.
“We urge the public to stay alert, do not panic, and immediately coordinate with the authorities if they find suspicious things. Community participation is very important in maintaining security stability,” he said.
Until now, the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force is still conducting an investigation to reveal the identity and motive of the perpetrators. The perpetrator can be charged with Article 1 Paragraph (1) of the Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951 regarding the illegal possession of firearms, as well as Article 338 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 53 of the Criminal Code regarding attempted murder.
The Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force again urged the public to remain calm, increase vigilance, and immediately report to the authorities if they find suspicious activity in the surrounding environment.
