Yahukimo – The Cartenz 2026 Peace Operation Task Force together with the Yahukimo Police quickly responded to the shooting incident allegedly carried out by the armed criminal group (KKB) Kodap XVI Yahukimo against a civilian in Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, Pegunungan Papua, Monday (27/4/2026). The victim with the initials RK (29) is currently undergoing intensive care after being referred to a referral health facility in Jayapura.
The incident occurred on Monday, April 27, 2026 around noon when the victim was on his way in the Dekai District area. The Cartenz Peace Ops Task Force Team together with the Yahukimo Police immediately evacuated the victims and secured the location to prevent further disruption and ensure the safety of the community.
The victim of RK who is a professional in the local government environment, suffered serious injuries and has received medical treatment according to the procedure. The results of the initial examination showed that the victim suffered one gunshot wound on the left side of the neck, accompanied by eight wounds that were suspected to be from projectile fragments. The family has also received assistance.
Deputy Head of the Public Relations Task Force for the Cartenz Peace Operation 2026, AKBP Andria, S.I.K., when confirmed by the media (27/4) night, explained that the victim was immediately evacuated after the incident and immediately received medical treatment.
“The results of the initial examination showed that the victim had a gunshot wound on the left neck and a number of injuries from projectile fragments, and has now been referred to a hospital in Jayapura for further treatment,” said AKBP Andria.
Following up on the incident, the joint apparatus immediately took quick steps in the form of securing the area, processing the crime scene, examining witnesses, and intensive investigation to uncover the perpetrator.
“Officers immediately evacuate the victim, secure the location, carry out the crime scene, examine witnesses, and investigate information in the field. Currently, intensive investigations continue to be carried out along with the increase of patrols and security in a number of vulnerable points,” explained AKBP Andria.
Head of Cartenz Peace Operations 2026, Inspector General of Police. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., emphasized that acts of violence against civilians are a serious violation of the law.
“Every act of violence against civil society will be strictly acted upon according to the applicable law. We ensure that the law enforcement process runs professionally, measurable, and fairly,” he said.
He also added that the Cartenz Peace Ops Task Force continues to increase patrols and security in vulnerable areas to ensure security stability.
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of Cartenz 2026 Peace Operation, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., urged the public to remain calm and not easily affected by unverified information.
“We invite the public to remain vigilant and play an active role in maintaining environmental security by immediately reporting important information to the security,” he said.
Perpetrators of armed violence can be charged with severe criminal provisions, including the threat of a long-term prison sentence in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Law enforcement steps will be carried out consistently as part of the effort to provide a deterrent effect as well as protect the community from the threat of violence.
Currently, the Cartenz 2026 Peace Operation Task Force together with the Yahukimo Police continues to pursue the perpetrators and strengthen security at a number of strategic points in Dekai District.
