Jayapura – The Papua Provincial Government is strengthening its commitment to accelerating regional development following the increase in Special Autonomy (Otsus) funds to Rp12.69 trillion, by preparing a series of priority programs focused on community welfare.
The strategic move reflects efforts to ensure that development in Papua is carried out through well-planned and targeted initiatives, aimed at delivering tangible benefits to communities across the region.
Papua Governor, Matius D. Fakhiri, stated that the provincial government will soon formulate priority programs to be submitted to the relevant ministries.
“We want to ensure that the Otsus funds truly reach the people,” Fakhiri said on Monday (April 13, 2026).
He emphasized that the effectiveness of budget utilization remains a key factor, with every program designed to generate direct and sustainable impact for the people of Papua.
Amid national budget efficiency policies, the provincial government remains committed to maintaining the continuity of development in the region, highlighting its dedication to advancing public welfare.
“We understand the efficiency policy, but development in Papua must continue,” he said.
With the increased allocation of Otsus funds, the government expects all programs to be implemented optimally and in line with their intended goals, while strengthening synergy between central and regional authorities to support a more developed and prosperous Papua.
