NABIRE – The Governor of Central Papua Province, Meki Nawipa, emphasized the importance of collaboration between all elements of society, especially university alumni, in accelerating regional development.

This was conveyed in his remarks at the First Regional Conference (Muswil) of the Hasanuddin University Alumni Association (IKA Unhas) for Central Papua, read by the Assistant for General Administration, Victor Fun, on Monday (April 13, 2026) in Nabire.

“This Regional Conference is not just a formal event, but a strategic space to strengthen ties, unite commitments, and strengthen real contributions to the development of Central Papua,” said Victor Fun.

In his remarks, Meki Nawipa emphasized that as a relatively new province, Central Papua requires support from various parties. The government cannot work alone without synergy with the community, including alumni who have contributed in various fields.

He stated that Hasanuddin University alumni have great potential, spread across government, business, education, and social sectors. This potential is seen as a strategic strength that needs to be united in a common development direction.

Furthermore, it is hoped that the First Regional Conference of the Unhas Alumni Association (IKA Unhas) in Central Papua will produce a solid, visionary management with a concrete work program. Alumni organizations are also encouraged to play an active role in improving the quality of local human resources, developing an economy based on regional potential, and becoming government partners in improving public services.

“We at the Central Papua Provincial Government are very open to collaboration. By working together, the results achieved will be far greater and more impactful,” he emphasized.

The event also emphasized the importance of maintaining unity in every deliberation process. Differences of opinion are considered normal, but must be accompanied by a spirit of mutual respect and a focus on shared goals.

Concluding his remarks, he expressed his hope that the First Regional Conference of the Unhas Alumni Association (IKA Unhas) in Central Papua would run smoothly and produce the best decisions for the organization’s progress and its contribution to regional development.
