JAYAPURA – Ahead of the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, PT PLN (Persero) ensures the reliability of electricity supply in the Papua region by alerting thousands of personnel and securing 126 priority points that include places of worship, crowd centers, and public facilities.
The security step was carried out through a layered security system by sending 1,002 personnel consisting of 334 PLN employees and 668 outsourcing workers. In addition, three teams of Work in a State of Tension (PDKB) are also alerted to handle potential power disruptions without having to extinguish the power flow.
General Manager of PT PLN (Persero) Main Unit of Papua and West Papua Region, Diksi Erfani Umar, said that various anticipatory measures have been prepared to ensure that the electricity supply remains stable during the Eid celebration series.
According to him, the readiness includes all aspects ranging from the power generation system, work equipment, to operational procedures in the field. PLN has also held a standby apple in all work units to ensure the readiness of personnel and equipment.
“In facing the series of Eid celebrations, we have ensured readiness from the power plant, network, work equipment, to personnel in the field. The condition of excellent personnel and adequate equipment support is the key to maintaining the reliability of the electricity supply,” he said.
In addition to alerting personnel, PLN also prepared 64 standby posts spread across various regions to ensure that services to the community continue to run optimally during the Eid period.
As an additional anticipatory measure, PLN also prepared a number of backup power supply sources in the form of 34 units of mobile substations, 16 units of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), six units of mobile cables, cable units and mobile cubicles, and 74 units of mobile generators that are ready to be used in case of interference.
To maintain the reliability of the power grid, PLN has previously also carried out various technical preparations, including the title of troops in each Customer Service Implementation Unit (UP3), inspection of the return network, and ensuring the availability of fuel for power plants.
In addition, officers also carry out electricity grid clearance and tree branches around the distribution line to prevent potential disturbances that can affect the electricity supply to the community.
Through these various steps, PLN hopes that the electricity supply in the Papua and West Papua regions will remain reliable during the Eid al-Fitr celebration so that people can worship and celebrate religious holidays comfortably.
