The Papua Mountains Provincial Government (Pemprov) through the local Health Office (Dinkes) stated that the budget for the construction of a Type B Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency, is approximately IDR 700 billion to IDR 800 billion.
“The construction of the Type B Regional General Hospital (RSUD) belonging to Papeg Province is quite large and cannot be funded by the regional budget (APBD). It will instead be supported by the state budget (APBN),” said Titus Kogoya, Acting Head of the Papeg Health Office, in a statement in Wamena on Sunday.
He stated that the construction of the Type B Regional General Hospital (RSUD) will be combined with the construction of the Papeg Provincial Regional Health Laboratory (Labkesda).
“The hospital and Labkesda will be built simultaneously at a location we have determined, namely Gunung Susu Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency,” he said.
He explained that the Ministry of Health’s (Kemenkes) request for support for the construction of a type B hospital is ongoing and will be followed up immediately.
“Hospitals are crucial for providing optimal services to the community in eight regencies. Currently, the only hospital operating optimally is the Wamena Regional General Hospital, owned by the Jayawijaya Regency Government. Therefore, it is necessary to build a provincial service center in the new autonomous region (DOB),” he said.
He added that the environmental impact assessment and other supporting documents related to the planned construction of the type B hospital have been completed and serve as the initial basis for requesting support from the Ministry of Health.
“The master plan has been completed, so that document serves as the basis for requesting support from the Ministry of Health’s state budget,” he said.
