INTAN JAYA — The sharp pain in a villager’s foot slowly eased as a police officer crouched down to clean the wound on the side of a village road. It was not inside a clinic, but in the middle of a patrol carried out by the Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force 2026 in Central Papua on Wednesday (January 28, 2026).
The patrol, led by Second Brigadier Dias and nine personnel from the enforcement unit, was initially aimed at maintaining security in the area. However, upon arriving at the Intan Jaya Post, they encountered a resident suffering from a fairly serious foot injury that required immediate assistance.
Without delay, the personnel provided basic medical treatment. The wound was cleaned, medication was administered, and the victim’s condition was stabilized before the patrol continued.
In addition to securing the area, the officers also conducted basic health checks for nearby residents. In a region where access to medical services is limited, their presence became a much-needed source of first aid.
Head of Damai Cartenz Operation 2026, Brig. Gen. Pol. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, emphasized that a humanitarian approach is a key element of the operation in Papua.
“We are present not only to maintain security, but also to help residents in need. This healthcare service is a tangible form of the Police’s concern, especially in areas with limited access to medical facilities,” he said.
According to him, direct assistance like this is expected to strengthen the relationship between security personnel and the community.
“We want the presence of the Police to be truly felt. When people feel cared for, a sense of security and trust will naturally grow,” Faizal added.
The patrol and healthcare service activities ran safely and received a positive response from the local community. Residents welcomed the personnel not only as guardians of security, but also as helpers in times of need.
Through simple actions amid Papua’s challenging terrain, Damai Cartenz Operation 2026 continues to deliver a clear message: maintaining security can go hand in hand with nurturing humanity.
