Jayapura – Central Papua Governor Meki Fritz Nawipa stated that in 2026 the central government has prepared 2,714 quotas for the KIP Kuliah scholarship program (Indonesia Smart Card for Higher Education) for Central Papua Province.
“Based on the data we received, Paniai Regency has prepared 219 candidates for the KIP Kuliah scholarship, followed by Dogiyai Regency with 131 candidates, and Deiyai Regency with 78 candidates,” he said in Nabire on Friday.
According to Nawipa, his administration has requested the relevant agencies to push the data through the House of Representatives (DPR RI) so that all eligible participants can receive the scholarships.
“In addition to scholarships for university students, this year Central Papua Province has also begun implementing free education from elementary school through senior high school and vocational high school levels,” he added.
He explained that the provincial government is committed to making education a primary sector of regional development and will continue efforts to produce 100 children who will become specialist doctors in the future.
“We have distributed laptop assistance to students who participated in the student festival held in September 2025 in Nabire. Currently, students in Paniai, Dogiyai, and Deiyai regencies have also received laptop assistance. We hope this support can be used effectively,” he said.
He further added that a total of 75 laptops were distributed to 75 students, with 25 students in each of the three regencies: Paniai, Dogiyai, and Deiyai.
