Mimika, Central Papua — Efforts to maintain security and peace in Papua are not only the responsibility of the security apparatus, but also involve the active role of religious figures who have great influence in the community. This can be seen from the support given by Pastor Fhillip Marcelona Leander, S.Th., Chairman of the Central Papua GKO Class, to the performance of the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz in creating security stability in the Papua region.
In his statement on Jl. Leo Mamiri, Koperapoka, Mimika Regency, on Monday (11/3/2025) at 15.00 WIT, Pastor Fhillip expressed his appreciation to the Task Force personnel who he considered had carried out their duties with a humanistic and professional approach in the midst of the community. He assessed, the persuasive steps taken by the apparatus have increased a sense of security as well as strengthened the public’s trust in the government.
“We fully support the efforts of the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz in maintaining security and enforcing the law in Papua. Their presence brings peace to the community, especially in areas that were previously prone to security disruptions,” said Pastor Fhillip.
Furthermore, Pastor Fhillip emphasized the importance of collaboration between security forces and religious figures in maintaining order and strengthening human values. He invited all Papuan people not to be easily provoked by divisive issues, and to continue to uphold the spirit of interfaith tolerance.
“Being different is beautiful, and uniting is a blessing. Peace is not born from the absence of differences, but from a heart that wants to understand and love. Let us be peacemakers so that Papua continues to shine in love and brotherhood,” he said.
The appreciation conveyed by Pastor Fhillip is proof that the work of the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz has reached the humanitarian side of the Papuan people, not only through security operations, but also through social approaches and partnerships with local figures.
