Yalimo – The Regent of Yalimo, Dr. Nahor Nekwek, S.Pd., M.M., accompanied by the Chairman of the Yalimo District House of Representatives, Elia Yare, S.Sos., along with several heads of regional offices of the Yalimo Regency Government, attended the thanksgiving service commemorating the 62nd Anniversary of the Gospel Entry of the Gereja Reformasi Papua (GJRP) held at the Jerusalem Congregation Church, Abenaho, on Wednesday (October 28).
It is noted that the Gospel was first brought by Rev. Gerit Kujit from the Netherlands on October 28, 1963, in Pass Valley, Abenaho, Yalimo Regency, Papua Pegunungan Province.
The thanksgiving service was led by Rev. Piter Yare, S.Th., carrying the theme “Salvation by the Grace of God” and the sub-theme “Through the 62nd Anniversary of the Gospel Entry (GJRP) in Papua, Let Us Reflect on the Mission of Evangelism in the Past, Present, and Future”, based on Ephesians 2:1–10.
During his remarks, Regent Dr. Nahor Nekwek expressed his appreciation to all congregants and church members who wholeheartedly took part in the celebration, marked by the traditional bakar batu feast that brought together the entire community.
“As church members, the government, and the community, we share a common commitment that in 2026 we will begin fundraising to support evangelism programs. This effort aims to realize the independence of the church. Therefore, we seek the support and participation of all congregations under GJRP to achieve this goal,” said Regent Nahor Nekwek.
