Jayapura – The South Papua Provincial Government is calling on the community, particularly the younger generation, to take an active role in supporting development across various sectors.
South Papua Governor Apolo Safanpo said the involvement of all elements of society is needed to continue regional development while carrying forward the legacy of independence achieved through the struggle and sacrifices of previous generations.
According to Safanpo, the independence enjoyed by Indonesians today was achieved through the dedication and sacrifices of national heroes. Therefore, the younger generation has a responsibility to continue that struggle through meaningful work and positive contributions to their respective regions.
“The independence we enjoy today is the result of the struggle and sacrifices of our heroes. Therefore, we encourage all elements of society to make concrete contributions to development,” Safanpo said.
He said that commemorating independence can serve as an opportunity to further strengthen unity, togetherness, national spirit, and patriotism within society.
Safanpo emphasized that these values need to continue to be instilled in the younger generation so that regional development is accompanied by efforts to maintain social harmony and national unity.
“Therefore, our duty as the next generation is to fill this independence through development, hard work, and by continuously maintaining unity and solidarity,” he said.
According to Safanpo, the spirit of unity and mutual cooperation is an important strength in realizing the goals of national development. Through togetherness and cooperation among all elements of society, development is expected to contribute to creating a fair, prosperous, and dignified society.
He also emphasized that Indonesia’s diversity, including the diversity found in South Papua, is a strength that must be preserved. Differences in the backgrounds of community members should not become a reason for division, but should instead serve as a foundation for strengthening unity.
“Differences in ethnicity, religion, culture and language are not reasons to divide our unity, but a wealth that strengthens our unity as fellow citizens,” Safanpo said.
For this reason, the younger generation of South Papua is expected to continue fostering national spirit, maintaining unity, and taking part in various development activities. Such contributions are a tangible way of continuing the efforts of previous generations while helping prepare South Papua for a more progressive future.
The South Papua Provincial Government hopes that the spirit of togetherness, hard work, and mutual cooperation will continue to grow within society, enabling regional development to proceed sustainably and provide benefits for the wider community.
