Jakarta – Academic from the University of Papua (UNIPA) Manokwari, Danni Waimbo, stated that one year under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has demonstrated a strong commitment to poverty alleviation in Papua through various pro-people programs that directly address the basic needs of the community.
According to Danni, the policies of the Prabowo–Gibran administration have so far met public expectations, not only at the national level but also for eastern Indonesia, which has long faced developmental challenges.
“The development direction being pursued is inclusive, welfare-oriented, and pro–grassroots communities,” said Danni in a statement received in Jakarta on Monday.
Over the past year, he continued, everyone has witnessed the government’s tangible results, particularly in reducing unemployment, creating labor-intensive job opportunities, and maintaining price stability for basic necessities.
In Papua, programs such as Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) and Free Education have had a significant positive impact on communities in remote areas.
He added that President Prabowo’s success is also reflected in his decisiveness regarding bureaucratic reform, including cabinet reshuffles that are impartial toward officials inconsistent with the spirit of clean governance.
According to Danni, these measures demonstrate the President’s commitment to eradicating corruption and strengthening effective governance.
He also argued that replacing former Finance Minister Sri Mulyani with Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa was a brilliant, people-oriented decision.
“The distribution of IDR 200 trillion from Bank Indonesia to the national banking system is a concrete step to stimulate the real economy, create jobs, and increase people’s purchasing power,” he said.
Danni further noted that flagship programs such as the Red-and-White Cooperative Program, Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), Free Education, Paid Internship Program, and Direct Cash Assistance are clear manifestations of President Prabowo’s vision to ensure prosperity for all citizens, especially in frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped (3T) regions like Papua.
