Jayapura – The Papua Regional Police, through the Directorate of Community Development (Binmas) in collaboration with the Regional Board of the Police Officers’ Sons and Daughters Association (KBPP) of Papua Province, organized a Cheap Food Movement to help stabilize rice prices and supply. The event took place at the Kloofkamp Bridge and Kloofkamp Police Housing Futsal Field, North Jayapura District, Jayapura City, Papua Province, on Saturday (August 9, 2025).

The event was attended by the Director of Binmas Papua Regional Police, Police Commissioner Erick Kadir Sully, S.I.K., accompanied by the Chairperson of KBPP Papua Province, Any Woroi, along with members of the Papua Police and local residents.

A total of 200 sacks of SPHP rice, each weighing 5 kg, were sold at an affordable price of Rp 65,000 per sack. The program also featured a bazaar of local MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) to support the local economy.

In his speech, Commissioner Erick Kadir Sully stated that the event was part of the Cheap Food Movement series in commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence, which runs from August 8 to August 17, 2025.

“Today, we are at Kloofkamp Police Housing for the Cheap Food Movement. This activity will also be carried out simultaneously nationwide on August 13–14, 2025, led directly by the President from Jakarta and joined by all Regional Police Departments across Indonesia,” he said.

He also mentioned that the initial activity was held at Al Aqsa Mosque in Sentani, providing 1 ton of SPHP rice and featuring local MSME vendors. According to him, this movement not only supports food availability but also boosts local economic growth through MSME participation.

Chairperson of KBPP Polri Papua Province, Any Woroi, expressed appreciation for the successful implementation of the event. She conveyed her gratitude to the Papua Regional Police, noting that the affordable market greatly benefits the community, especially residents of the Kloofkamp Police Housing.

“Public enthusiasm was very high, and they hope similar events can be held regularly in the future,” she said.

Any Woroi also affirmed that KBPP Polri is fully committed to supporting the government and Papua Regional Police in implementing future affordable food programs. This support is expected to expand the reach of the program’s benefits so that more people can be helped.
