Jayapura, July 1, 2025 – The 79th Bhayangkara Day ceremony was solemnly held at the Mobile Brigade Headquarters (Mako Brimob) in Kotaraja, Jayapura. Papua Police Chief, Inspector General Patrige Renwarin, led the ceremony and delivered a strong message about the evolving role of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in Papua—moving from a force of authority to a trusted partner of the community.
In his address, the police chief highlighted the importance of a human-centered approach, especially given the ongoing security challenges in Papua. He stated that the police must not only enforce the law but also play an active role in peacebuilding and improving public welfare.
“Bhayangkara Day is a moment of reflection. The police must go beyond rigid enforcement—we must serve with empathy, with heart, and with compassion,” said Irjen Patrige in front of hundreds of officers, community leaders, and government officials.
He further emphasized the need for collaboration with local stakeholders—including traditional leaders, religious figures, and regional authorities—to foster peace and social harmony. He expressed hope that this occasion would mark a renewed commitment to community engagement and improved public trust in law enforcement.
The ceremony featured an honor parade, the raising of the national flag, and the awarding of recognition to outstanding officers within the Papua Regional Police.
This year’s Bhayangkara Day celebration was more than a ceremonial tradition—it symbolized Polri’s ongoing commitment to becoming a more inclusive, responsive, and community-oriented institution in Papua.
