BMP-RI Secretary General Praises Indonesia’s Aid to Fiji: A Strategic Move in the Pacific Region

Nabire, Central Papua — The Indonesian government has allocated a grant of 6 million US dollars, approximately Rp 100 billion, to the government of Fiji. The aid was personally handed over by President Prabowo Subianto during the official visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Fiji, Sitiveni Rabuka, at the State Palace on Thursday (April 24, 2025).

This grant is part of Indonesia’s efforts to strengthen bilateral relations with countries in the Pacific region and expand strategic cooperation in various sectors. Prime Minister Rabuka’s visit focused on discussions to deepen the partnership between the two countries and explore future collaboration opportunities.

The Indonesian government’s initiative received positive responses from various sectors. Secretary General of the Central Executive Board of Barisan Merah Putih Republic of Indonesia (BMP-RI), Ali Kabiay, expressed his appreciation for the policy. He stated that the aid reflects President Prabowo’s commitment to supporting development in the Pacific region and demonstrates Indonesia’s understanding of the ongoing geopolitical dynamics there.

“As a native youth from Papua, I am very proud of our president’s actions,” Ali told Tribun-PapuaTengah.

Ali further noted that Indonesia’s attention toward Pacific nations, including Fiji, could also strengthen Indonesia’s standing in various international forums, particularly concerning strategic issues in the region.
