Serui, March 25, 2025 – The Education and Culture Office of Yapen Islands Regency has expressed its appreciation to the teachers and elementary school principals who participated in the training for implementing the Merdeka Learning Curriculum (IKM) and Basic Literacy (PPM) in the Ambai and Nusawani Districts. This training was attended by 9 elementary schools from March 17 to 20, 2025.
The training was successfully conducted, thanks to funding from the School Operational Assistance (BOS) program. Marinus Manufandu, S.Pd, the Head of the Elementary School Division, who opened and closed the event, stated that the program had been fully implemented, with 100 percent of the activities completed. However, he noted that the Education Office had only completed 75 percent of the overall process, while the remaining 25 percent would be implemented at the individual schools.
“This training is expected to enhance the quality of teaching and learning in schools, utilizing the knowledge gained from the curriculum that teachers have learned. We hope teachers will develop and apply this knowledge with their students,” said Marinus Manufandu.
The training focused on two key aspects: the introduction of the Merdeka Learning Curriculum and e-learning as new approaches to teaching and learning. These methods are intended to provide teachers with alternative ways to create more interactive and enjoyable learning experiences for students.
Marinus Manufandu also emphasized the importance of teachers and school principals in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities, particularly in effectively implementing the Merdeka Learning Curriculum in each school.
This initiative is a significant step toward achieving a more flexible and relevant education system, offering teachers the opportunity to grow and adapt to the ever-changing educational landscape.
