Vacant House in Puncak Jaya Set on Fire, Authorities Launch Investigation

Puncak Jaya – A vacant house in Kampung Trikora, Pruleme District, Puncak Jaya Regency, Central Papua Province, was reported to have caught fire on Friday morning (2/28). The Damai Cartenz-2025 Task Force team promptly responded to the incident by conducting a sweep and further investigation.

The incident was first reported by officers at the Kulirik Post of the Puncak Jaya Sectoral Task Force. Upon receiving the report, 11 personnel from Team Belukar 7.4, led by First Inspector (Ipda) Sukono, S.H., were immediately deployed to the location for an inspection. Upon arrival at the scene at 8:30 AM WIT, the team found the house engulfed in flames with no occupants inside.

After conducting a sweep and coordinating with the Mulia Police, Team Belukar 7.4 returned to the station to remain on standby. Fortunately, there were no casualties or material losses aside from the burned house.

In response to the incident, the Commander of Operation Damai Cartenz-2025, Brigadier General (Pol.) Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by Deputy Commander Kombes Pol. Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., emphasized that security patrols in vulnerable areas would be intensified to prevent similar incidents.

“We ensure that every significant incident will be handled professionally. The personnel on the ground have responded swiftly, and we will continue to collaborate with all parties to maintain security in Puncak Jaya,” said Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for Operation Damai Cartenz-2025, Senior Commissioner (Kombes Pol.) Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., urged the public to remain calm regarding the incident.

“We urge all residents to stay vigilant but not panic. If you notice anything suspicious or have information about this incident, report it immediately to the nearest authorities and trust law enforcement to handle it,” said Kombes Pol. Yusuf Sutejo.

Currently, a joint security force is still investigating to identify the perpetrators and motives behind the arson. Security operations in Puncak Jaya continue to be strengthened to ensure stability and public safety.
