Authorities Investigate Fire at Vacant House in Puncak Jaya

Puncak Jaya-Mulia – Security forces from the Damai Cartenz-2025 Task Force are investigating a fire that broke out at a vacant house in Kampung Trikora, Pruleme District, Puncak Jaya Regency, Central Papua, on Friday morning (2/28).
Team Belukar 7.4, led by First Inspector (Ipda) Sukono, S.H., quickly responded to the scene after receiving a report from officers at the Kulirik Post of the Puncak Jaya Sectoral Task Force. Upon arrival at the site around 8:30 AM WIT, they found the house had been completely burned down. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
After conducting a sweep of the area, the team coordinated with the Mulia Police Station before returning to their post on standby. Aside from the burned house, no other material losses were found.
Brigadier General (Pol.) Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., Commander of Operation Damai Cartenz-2025, emphasized that security patrols in vulnerable areas would be intensified to prevent similar incidents.
“We will ensure that every significant incident is handled professionally. Our personnel have responded swiftly, and we will continue to work with all parties to maintain security in Puncak Jaya,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Senior Commissioner (Pol.) Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., Head of Public Relations for Operation Damai Cartenz-2025, urged the public to remain calm and alert.
“If you notice anything suspicious or have any information regarding this incident, please report it immediately to the nearest authorities. Trust law enforcement to handle the situation,” he said.
At present, joint security forces are still investigating to identify the perpetrators and motives behind the fire. Security patrols in Puncak Jaya are also being intensified to ensure stability and public safety.
