A Member of the KKB Group Led by Aske Mabel and Nikson Matuan Transferred to Papua Police Headquarters

Jayapura – The Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force 2025 has once again demonstrated its commitment to taking firm action against armed criminal groups (KKB) in Papua. On Thursday, February 13, the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force’s investigation team officially transferred the suspect Nikson Matuan alias Okoni Siep, a member of the KKB group led by Aske Mabel, to the Papua Police Headquarters for further legal proceedings.
The transfer process began at 08:15 WIT from the Task Force’s Post. The suspect was escorted by the investigation team led by the Head of Subunit Investigation of the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force, KOMPOL Suheriadi, S.H., S.I.K., M.M., along with IPTU Kamaruddin, S.H., and two other members, BRIPKA Jefri Januar Thomas and BRIPDA Apriadi Widiansyah.
At 08:16 WIT, the team departed for Elelim Airport, arriving ten minutes later. A P3003 helicopter landed at the airport to pick up the suspect. The evacuation process was swift and smooth, and the helicopter then departed for Jayapura Airport.
Statement from the Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation
The Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force 2025, Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., emphasized that this action is proof of the authorities’ seriousness in combating KKB activities in Papua.
“We will not give space to groups that threaten the stability and security of Papua. Any sympathizers or members of KKB involved in acts of terrorism will be firmly dealt with according to the law,” stated Brigadier General Faizal.
He further added that they are continuously conducting intensive operations to suppress the movement of KKB in various vulnerable areas.
“We urge the public not to be provoked and to cooperate with the authorities in maintaining security in Papua,” he added.
Public Relations Task Force’s Appeal
Meanwhile, the Head of the Public Relations Task Force for the Cartenz Peace Operation, Kombes Pol. Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., appealed to the public to fully trust the legal process and not be swayed by issues that could worsen the security situation.
“We ask the public not to be influenced by fake news or propaganda intentionally spread to provoke. Trust the legal process to the police, as every action will be handled professionally and transparently in accordance with the applicable rules,” said Kombes Pol. Yusuf.
He also emphasized the importance of active public participation in maintaining a peaceful situation by reporting any potential threats to security.
“If you have information regarding the whereabouts of armed criminal groups or suspicious activities, report it immediately to the nearest authorities so it can be acted upon. The security of Papua is our collective responsibility,” he stressed.
With this action, the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force 2025 reaffirms its commitment to maintaining security stability in Papua and taking firm action against any threats posed by armed criminal groups.
