Yalimo, Elelim- The Peace Operation Task Force (Satgas Ops Damai Cartenz 2025), in collaboration with the Yalimo Police, conducted a reconstruction of Nikson Matuan’s involvement in the shooting of the late Brigpol Iqbal Anwar Arif. The reconstruction took place in Hobakma Village, Elelim District, Yalimo Regency, Papua Highlands, on Tuesday (02/11/2025).
The Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by Deputy Head of Ops Damai Cartenz 2025, Police Commissioner Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., stated that the reconstruction process began at 7:30 AM WIT. The reenacted scenes depicted the shooting incident that occurred on Friday, January 17, 2025, at approximately 3:00 PM WIT on the Wamena-Jayapura Trans Road, where Brigpol Iqbal fell victim to an attack by an armed criminal group (KKB) led by Aske Mabel.
A total of 19 scenes were reenacted in the reconstruction, starting from the perpetrators’ initial movement toward the location to the moment Aske Mabel fired his weapon at the victim. Every detail, including the positions of the perpetrators, the victim, witnesses, and the evidence found at the crime scene, was carefully presented.
Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani emphasized that this reconstruction played a crucial role in clarifying the chronology of events and identifying each perpetrator’s involvement.
“This reconstruction is a critical step in uncovering the truth and ensuring that every perpetrator is held accountable for their actions,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for Ops Damai Cartenz 2025, Police Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., urged the public to remain calm and support law enforcement efforts to maintain security and public order.
“We urge the community not to be easily provoked and to report any suspicious information to the authorities immediately,” he said.
It is hoped that this reconstruction will lead to a thorough investigation of Brigpol Iqbal’s shooting case, ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice according to the law.
