Yalimo, Elelim- The Peace Operation Task Force (Satgas Ops Damai Cartenz 2025) in collaboration with the Yalimo Police conducted a reconstruction related to Nikson Matuan’s involvement in the shooting incident that claimed the life of Brigpol Iqbal Anwar Arif. The incident took place in Hobakma Village, Elelim District, Yalimo Regency, Papua Highlands, on Tuesday (02/11/2025).
The Head of Peace Operation Cartenz-2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by Deputy Head of Ops Damai Cartenz 2025, Police Commissioner Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., stated that the reconstruction aimed to provide a detailed depiction of the events that occurred on Friday, January 17, 2025, around 3:00 PM WIT on the Wamena-Jayapura Trans Road. Brigpol Iqbal was shot by an armed criminal group (KKB) led by Aske Mabel.
The reconstruction, which began at 7:30 AM WIT, covered 19 scenes, illustrating the sequence of events from the perpetrator’s movement toward the location to the moment Aske Mabel fired shots at the victim. Each scene was meticulously reenacted, including the positions of the perpetrators, the victim, and witnesses, as well as the evidence found at the crime scene.
According to Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, the reconstruction played a crucial role in revealing the series of events and determining the involvement of each perpetrator.
“This process is vital to ensure that every detail of the incident is clearly recorded, allowing for a transparent and accurate investigation,* he stated.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for Ops Damai Cartenz 2025, Police Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., urged the public to remain calm and support law enforcement efforts to maintain public order and security (Kamtibmas).
“We encourage the community not to be easily provoked and to report any suspicious activities to the authorities immediately,” he said.
It is hoped that this reconstruction will provide further clarity on the shooting case of Brigpol Iqbal and ensure that the perpetrators face due legal process.
