Jayapura – The Head of the Synod of the Indonesian Gospel Tabernacle Church (GKII) Region 1 Papua, Pastor Petrus Bonyadone, M.Th, called for a message of peace to the Papuan people after the implementation of the 2024 simultaneous regional elections. He appealed to all parties to maintain peace in the midst of the vote recapitulation process and welcome December as a month of joy.
“We should be grateful to God because we have passed 11 months in 2024. Now we are entering December, a month full of joy where we commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. He came to bring peace to all of us,” said Pastor Petrus in his statement, Monday (12/23/2024).
Pastor Petrus appreciated the implementation of the simultaneous regional elections in Papua which went well on November 27. He asked the public to remain calm and support a conducive atmosphere until the vote recapitulation results were announced.
“We don’t know who will be elected, whether as Governor, Mayor or Regent. But whoever it is, we believe that they are God’s choice through the people,” he said.
On that occasion, Pastor Petrus also expressed his gratitude to the Papua Police for their hard work in maintaining security during the Pilkada process. He hopes that neutrality and justice will remain a priority to create a sense of security for the entire community.
“We really appreciate the police who have kept the situation conducive. In the future, let’s work together to maintain Papua as a land of peace, because where there is peace, there is a sense of security and peace,” he added.
Pastor Petrus invited all Papuan people to unite and continue to uphold the values of peace, especially in this special month of December. He hopes that this peaceful atmosphere will continue to be maintained so that Papua can become a blessed and prosperous place.
“Once again, let’s maintain peace in the land of Papua. God bless us all,” he concluded.
