Jayapura- The name of Brigadier General Pol. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani is in the spotlight in efforts to handle the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Papua. The man who now holds the rank of one star on his shoulder is known as the designer of the strategy for ambushing and arresting groups that are considered to threaten security stability in the region. As the new Deputy Chief of Papua Police, Faizal’s career continues to record brilliant achievements in the operation to eradicate the KKB.
Handling the KKB in Papua is not an easy matter. The complex network, led by different factions, with members who continue to change from generation to generation, makes this challenge even more difficult. However, Brigadier General Faizal, who also holds the role of Head of Operations (Ka Ops) Peace Cartenz from 2023 to 2024, has demonstrated his ability to overcome this threat with various successful operations.
One of the major operations led by Faizal was the evacuation of 15 construction workers in Paro District, Nduga Regency in February 2023. The operation was carried out after the workers were threatened by the KKB led by Egianus Kogoya, a group that often carries out acts of terror in the area. Two months later, the Cartenz Peace Task Force led by Faizal again succeeded in arresting a KKB member in Puncak Regency.
Another achievement came in May 2023, when Faizal and his team succeeded in arresting Anis Taplo, a member of a weapons and ammunition smuggling network in Pegunungan Bintang Regency. Not only that, they also secured Kopitua Heluka, the leader of the KKB in the Yahukimo area who was involved in a number of murders.
Faizal and his team continued their operations with great success, including occupying KKB headquarters in various areas, such as in the Yapen Islands Regency and Yahukimo. In fact, in August 2023, two KKB members were successfully paralyzed in a gun battle in Yahukimo. This record continues, where throughout 2023, the Cartenz Peace Task Force managed to arrest 33 KKB members, kill 19 others, and confiscate dozens of firearms and ammunition.
Sr. Comr. Pol. Dr. Bayu Suseno, Head of Public Relations for the Cartenz Peace Operation-2024, noted the success of the Cartenz Peace Operation in 2024, including the arrest of important KKB figures such as Epson Nirigi and Jukius Tabuni in Puncak. In addition, the joint team succeeded in occupying the KKB headquarters led by Undius Kogoya in Bibida District, Paniai Regency in June 2024.
The KKB suppression operation carried out under the command of Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani as Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation-2024 is proof that a mature strategy and in-depth knowledge of the region and these groups are the keys to success. His figure will continue to be the vanguard in protecting Papua from the threat of armed groups that continue to disrupt peace in this land.
