Jayapura- Ramses Wally, one of the leading traditional figures in Papua Province, expressed his appreciation to the Papua Regional Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Mathius D Fakhiri, and the Jayapura Police Chief, AKBP Fredrickus Maclarimboen, for their efforts in recruiting members of the National Police in 2024.

According to Ramses, the Papua Police Chief and the Jayapura Police Chief have fulfilled their promise to prioritize indigenous Papuan children in accepting members of the National Police.

“At the fast breaking event at Obhe Rei May Jayapura Police at that time, the Regional Police Chief promised to open 10,000 vacancies for Polri members and he kept this,” said Ramses recently.

Ramses explained that even though for 2024 the Papua and West Papua Regional Police will only open 2,000 recruitments, this is still welcomed. Based on the information he received from the Papua Regional Police, the recruitment of 10,000 Polri members will be carried out in stages.

“This year 2,000, next year 2,000, then in 2026 another 2,000, and next year it will open on a large scale by recruiting 4,000 members,” added Ramses.

What the Papua Regional Police and Jayapura Police have done is seen as a positive step because it gives indigenous Papuan children the opportunity to have a career in the world of policing.

“This is a good thing and deserves appreciation, because many Papuan youth aspire to become members of the National Police. “In my village, Babrongko, there were around 12 children who took part in the selection, and 10 of them passed and were ready to be assigned,” said Ramses proudly.

Ramses also gave a message to all young people who have not passed the 2024 National Police member selection to prepare themselves to take part in the selection next year.

“It is possible that all Papuan children will have the opportunity to have a career as police officers in the Papua Regional Police. So, prepare yourself well,” he advised.

In closing, Ramses expressed his gratitude to the Jayapura Police Chief who has been close to the community through various programs carried out in the jurisdiction of Jayapura Regency.

“The programs that are being implemented are very good and must be maintained so that the image of the Police, which is currently good in the eyes of the public, can continue to be maintained,” he concluded.
