City of Jayapura- The Directorate of Narcotics Investigation of Papua Police conducted a socialization on Prevention of Eradication of Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (P4GN) on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at BAR SCARLET, Entrop, Jayapura City.
The steps taken by the Directorate of Drug Detection of the Papua Police to combat drug trafficking in the region are very important and should be appreciated. The socialization targeting Night Entertainment Places (THM) in Jayapura City is a proactive step in efforts to prevent drug abuse and trafficking.
In the socialization, an understanding of the dangers of narcotics crime was conveyed to the community. The importance of this understanding is not only to avoid drug abuse, but also to understand the consequences of the penalties that will be received in accordance with Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
After the Socialization Activity, Paur Bag Bin Ops of the Papua Police Narcotics Directorate, Aiptu Arie Wibisono when asked for information said, the effects of dependence and addiction to narcotics are very relevant. This understanding is important to avoid temptation from irresponsible parties who may try to provide narcotics in various forms to the community.
“Socialization in THMs is very important considering that areas like this are vulnerable to narcotics abuse. Through this socialization, it is hoped that THM employees can be more vigilant and able to identify and prevent drug abuse efforts in their workplace environment,” said Aiptu Arie Wibisono.
He explained that the next step related to the prevention of eradication of drug abuse and illicit trafficking (P4GN) is in the school environment. Because the younger generation is indeed a target that is very vulnerable to the negative influence of narcotics, therefore, efforts to prevent drug abuse in the school environment are very important.
“The commitment of the Directorate of Narcotics Investigation of the Papua Police is very appropriate to continue to strengthen prevention actions and combat narcotics trafficking in the Papua region and of course there needs to be strong collaboration between stakeholders and the police so that it becomes the key to success in having a positive impact and protecting the younger generation from the dangers of narcotics.
