JAYAPURA – Inhuman criminal acts committed by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Pegunungan Bintang Regency, Papua Pegunungan, have drawn condemnation from various parties. The Head of the Tribe and community leader from Ketengban, Pegunungan Bintang, Andarias Leppi, condemned the disruptions to public order and the loss of lives caused by the KKB.
“They (KKB) are causing great harm to us, the people here. Most recently, they (KKB) killed one of our relatives, the Village Head in Serambakom,” he said on Sunday morning (21/4/2024).
Andarias then urged authorities to take firm action against the security disruptors in Pegunungan Bintang.
He also called on all layers of society to support the security forces in maintaining the situation in the Papuan Highlands, especially in Pegunungan Bintang.
“Security is the key to the region’s progress. We want to progress like other peaceful areas without threats or KKB actions,” he stressed.
In addition, due to the abundance of provocative content circulating widely, Andarias firmly advised the public to be vigilant and not be provoked.
“Nowadays, there are many false narratives being spread, so I urge everyone to be vigilant and, if necessary, ask directly from the police authorities for clarity and understanding,” he explained.
He also expressed gratitude to the TNI and Police forces for consistently providing a sense of safety and comfort to the community leaders, especially in their quick response to public complaints.
“We understand that carrying out duties and risking one’s life is very challenging in areas with KKB presence. Therefore, we always support you in carrying out your duties,” he emphasized.
