Timika – Circulating on social media is the latest photo of Susi Air pilot Philip Mark Mehrtens, who has been held hostage by the armed criminal group (KKB) for 10 months. The photo shows Captain Philip with KKB leader Egianus Kogoya.
“This is indeed the latest photo,” said Kaops Damai Cartenz Kombes Faizal Ramadhani when asked for confirmation by detikcom, Tuesday (26/12/2023).
Based on the photo, Faizal assessed that Captain Philip was still with Egianus. He then explained that his party was still prioritizing a soft approach in its efforts to free Philip.
In the video, Capt Philip asks the TNI-Polri officers not to use bombs in the rescue process. According to him, this method would be dangerous for his safety.
“Indonesia, don’t release bombs here, so don’t release bombs, it’s dangerous for me and the people here,” said Capt Philip in a circulating video.
In the video, Captain Philip is accompanied by two people suspected of being members of the KKB. Philip sat between the two people wearing a black t-shirt and shorts.
“I live together with the people here, we sit together, walk together, rest together, and there are no problems with me,” he explained.
