Timika – Evaluation throughout 2023 of the situation in Papua. The joint TNI-Polri troops succeeded in controlling 42 places that were used as headquarters for the Papuan Armed Criminal Group (KKB) throughout 2023.
“We succeeded in occupying or controlling 42 KKB headquarters in several jurisdictions of the Papua Regional Police,” said Head of the Cartenz Peace Task Force, Kombes Faizal Ramadhani, to the media crew, quoted on Friday (22/12/2023).
Apart from the headquarters, said Faizal, the Damai Cartenz operation also succeeded in confiscating dozens of firearms of various types from the terrorist KKB.
He further added, from January to the end of December 2023, law enforcement carried out by the TNI-Polri killed 19 KKB members.
“It was recorded that 19 KKB members were killed in the actions carried out by members in the field,” said Faizal.
Meanwhile, the total number of victims in the incident in Papua, both TNI-Polri officers and civilians, reached 60 people. “20 TNI soldiers, 3 Polri members, and 37 civilians,” he explained.
“A series of incidents involving the KKB resulted in the deaths of 79 people, consisting of 20 TNI soldiers, three Polri members, 37 civilians and 19 KKB members,” said Head of Cartenz 2023 Peace Operations, Kombes Faizal Ramadhani, Friday (22/ 12/2023).
“Meanwhile, the 84 injured victims consisted of 24 TNI soldiers, seven Polri members, 50 members of the public and three KKB members,” he continued.
Faizal detailed that the security disturbances carried out by the KKB consisted of 20 firefights, two post attacks, 19 gunshots and 39 shootings. Then there were 16 serious assaults, five simple assaults, five murders, 32 arsons and 52 other disturbances.
“The outstanding cases that occurred throughout 2023 were 204 incidents,” said Faizal.
