Kenyam – TNI-Polri officers assisted by residents of Kenyam, Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains Province, Friday (4/8/2023) helped to tow a Smart Air plane with flight number PK-SNB which skidded shortly after landing.
Nduga Police Chief Kompol Vj Parapaga said that from reports received the incident occurred at around 09.30 WIT and there were no casualties.
Nduga Regency is one of nine regencies in the Papua Highlands Province which includes Jayawijaya, Central Mamberamo, Yalimo, Tolikara, Lanny Jaya, Bintang Mountains and Yahukimo Regencies.

He explained that shortly after arriving at the Kenyam airport, the plane suddenly skidded.
The community around the airport together with the security forces helped push the ill-fated plane to the airfield area.
“The pilot and technician were then taken to the Kenyam Hospital to undergo a medical examination,” he said.
When asked about the security and order situation in the Nduga Police area, the Police Chief admitted that currently it was relatively conducive.
“The situation for Kamtibmas in the Nduga Police area is currently relatively conducive but the security forces are always on standby,” said Vj Parapaga.
