The bodies of victims of the OTK attack on Yahukimo have been evacuated to their hometowns

Jayapura – The body of a civilian named Alm. Matthew Ropa (50) who was the victim of an attack by OTK in Yahukimo District was flown to his hometown in Toraja Prov. South Sulawesi, Friday (04/08).

The evacuation process from Yahukimo Regency to Jayapura Regency was using the Trigana Air IL222 aircraft (03/08).

Shortly after arriving at Sentani Airport, the body of the late Alm. Matthew (50) was received by the Head of Airport Police, Ipda Wajedi, SH., M.Sc. along with his personnel to be taken to the family residence at BTN Social Sentani, Jayapura Regency.

The Head of Public Relations said that the victim’s body would be handled first by the Bhayangkara Hospital before being sent to his hometown to be buried by the family.

“Today the victim was dispatched using the Batik Air flight ID6183 to Makassar City at around 10.07 wit,” he explained.

Previously, on Wednesday (02/08) at around 11.15 wit, the Yahukimo Police received information that a resident had become a victim of persecution.

Seven wounds were found on the victim’s body caused by a sharp object. Unfortunately, when the victim arrived at the hospital, his condition was critical and his life could not be saved.

The situation after the incident is now gradually conducive. The joint TNI/Polri apparatus is currently increasing activities such as patrols to anticipate things that are not desirable together. We invite residents, especially in Dekai City, to work together with security forces to maintain a safe and conducive Kamtibmas situation.
