Jayapura – The search for Susi Air pilot, Captain Philips Max Mehrtens, by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Egianus Kogoya continues.
Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius D. Fahiri said the team would concentrate their search around the area of Nduga Regency, Highlands Papua. The team itself consists of the collaboration of the Cartenz Damai Task Force and the TNI.
“We have taken steps, I have also met with all parties as well as religious leaders, community leaders to be able to negotiate with the Egianus Kogoya group,” said Inspector General Mathius in a written statement, Saturday (17/6).
Regarding the time limit presented by Egianus Kogoya’s group, he said that this would be a careful consideration to take steps to enforce the law.
“We don’t want the impact that we are doing to be fatal to the pilot,” he concluded.
It is known that Captain Philips Max Mehrtens has been held hostage since February 7 2023, after landing at Paro Airport, Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains Province, Captain Philips, who was operating the Susi Air aircraft of the Pilatus Porter type with flight number SI 9368, lost contact.
Previously, the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Egianus Kogoya had threatened to shoot Susi Air pilot, Captain Philips Max Mehrtens, within the next two months.
