81st Independence Day Ceremony in Yahukimo Held Peacefully, Damai Cartenz Task Force Ensures Security

Yahukimo – The flag-raising ceremony commemorating the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia was held solemnly and peacefully at the Yahukimo Regent’s Office in Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Highlands, on Monday (Aug. 17, 2026). The ceremony carried the sub-theme “A Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia” and was attended by approximately 500 participants, including representatives of the local government, the Indonesian Military and Police, youth organizations, students, and members of the community.

Yahukimo Regent Didimus Yahuli, S.H., M.H., served as the ceremony’s inspector. The ceremony began at approximately 9:30 a.m. Eastern Indonesia Time (WIT) and concluded at 10:55 a.m. The raising of the Red and White flag proceeded in an orderly manner, accompanied by the national anthem, “Indonesia Raya.” All participants observed the ceremony respectfully until its conclusion.

To ensure the event proceeded safely and smoothly, personnel from the Damai Cartenz-2026 Police Task Force provided security around the Yahukimo Regent’s Office. The personnel were deployed to maintain public safety and order while ensuring that residents could participate in the Independence Day commemoration safely and comfortably. Security measures emphasized a humane approach and communication with residents in the surrounding area.

The spirit of togetherness continued after the main ceremony. Several activities were held to enliven the 81st Independence Day commemoration, including a thank-you presentation by students of the Yahukimo Cerdas program, a drum band performance by students of SD Negeri 1 Dekai, chants by the Yahukimo Regency Paskibra team, and a joint photo session involving ceremony participants and invited guests.

Chief of the Damai Cartenz-2026 Operation, Inspector General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., said the security measures were part of efforts to ensure that the people of Yahukimo could commemorate the 81st Independence Day safely and solemnly.

> “We want all people in Yahukimo to be able to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia safely and comfortably. The presence of personnel from the Damai Cartenz Police Task Force is part of our efforts to maintain a conducive security situation so that all activities can proceed smoothly,” he said.

Faizal added that Independence Day serves as an opportunity to strengthen unity and togetherness among the community. He therefore encouraged all elements of society to work together to maintain public order, respect one another, and preserve peace in Yahukimo.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief of the Damai Cartenz-2026 Operation, Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., said personnel in the field were instructed to prioritize a humane security approach while ensuring the comfort of the public.

> “Our security measures are aimed at ensuring that people can participate in the 81st Independence Day commemoration safely and comfortably. Personnel were also instructed to maintain communication with the community and provide assistance whenever needed during the event,” he said.

Adarma expressed his appreciation to all parties who contributed to maintaining security and public order throughout the event. He said the smooth implementation of the Independence Day ceremony reflected the synergy and cooperation of all parties involved.

Throughout the ceremony, the situation around the Yahukimo Regent’s Office remained safe and conducive, with no significant security disturbances reported. Residents were able to participate in all activities in an orderly manner.

The 81st Independence Day commemoration in Yahukimo was not only an occasion to honor the nation’s struggle for independence but also an opportunity to strengthen unity, solidarity, and the commitment to maintaining peace. The presence of the Damai Cartenz-2026 Police Task Force reflects its commitment to providing a sense of security for the community during public activities throughout Yahukimo.
