Jayapura – Residents of Skouw Sae Village, Muara Tami District, Jayapura City, Papua, celebrated the 81st anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day by holding a social service activity and various competitions for children on Sunday (August 16, 2026).
The activities, held at the residence of Skouw Sae Village traditional leader David Lomo, provided an opportunity for residents to strengthen solidarity and promote the spirit of mutual cooperation ahead of the Independence Day commemoration.
Carrying the theme “The Spirit of Independence, Strengthening Unity, Spreading Care,” the event featured a social service activity as well as several children’s competitions, including cracker-eating, marble races, putting pens into bottles, balloon walking, and balloon dancing contests.
Skouw Sae Village traditional leader David Lomo encouraged residents to use the Independence Day commemoration as an opportunity to strengthen concern for others and their surroundings. He said the spirit of mutual cooperation should continue to be maintained as an important part of community life.
The children’s competitions drew enthusiasm from residents. In addition to providing entertainment during the Independence Day celebrations, the activities served as a means of strengthening relations among residents while instilling the values of unity and togetherness among the younger generation.
Through the social service activity and children’s competitions, residents of Skouw Sae expressed hope that the spirit of independence would not only be reflected in celebrations but also through social care, mutual cooperation, and efforts to maintain unity within the community.
