Pegunungan Bintang, Pegunungan Papua – The joint team of the Cartenz 2026 Peace Operation Task Force together with the Pegunungan Bintang Police and the Yonif Task Force 751/VJS found a marijuana field in tactical patrol activities in the Bintang Mountains area, Saturday (4/11/2026).
The patrol activity was carried out for two days, from April 10 to 11, 2026, involving a total of 29 joint personnel. Patrols target a number of areas that are identified as having the potential for instability, as well as to monitor the security situation in the field.
In that activity, the team found marijuana fields in two different locations, namely in Yunabol Village, Oksibil District, and Siminbuk Village, Serambakon District. From the two locations, the authorities secured a total of around 226 stems of marijuana plants, with details of 81 stems in Yunabol Village and 145 stems in Siminbuk Village.
In addition, two people with the initials LU (57) and GU alias K (27) were also arrested at the location. Both of them have undergone a preliminary examination, including a urine test with a negative result.
Head of Public Relations Operation Peace Cartenz 2026, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T. when met by the media (12/4), explained that the discovery was the result of coordinated patrols carried out jointly.
“This disclosure started from a two-day tactical patrol by a joint team with a strength of 29 personnel. From the results of the patrol, marijuana fields were found in two locations with a total of about 226 stems, as well as two people who are currently being arrested for the purpose of investigation,” he said.
He emphasized that the two people who are currently arrested are still in the status of witnesses and have not been designated as suspects.
“Both of them are still under further investigation and have the status of witnesses. All evidence with witnesses have been handed over to the Pegunungan Bintang Police Satresnarkoba for further investigation process,” he explained.
The findings became the basis for investigators to develop narcotics criminal cases. The handling of the case refers to the provisions of Article 609 and 610 of the Criminal Code Number 1 of 2023 and Article 111 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, related to the act of growing and controlling class I narcotics.
Head of Cartenz Peace Operations 2026, Inspector General of Police. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H. said that this activity is part of the law enforcement efforts against illegal activities in the Papua region.
“This disclosure shows the efforts of the apparatus in handling activities that have the potential to disrupt security and have an impact on the community. The legal process will continue to run according to the applicable provisions,” he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Head Of Operation Peace Cartenz 2026, Chief Commissioner Of Polcie Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum. added that the synergy between Polri and TNI is an important factor in the implementation of activities in the field.
“Coordination and cross-agency cooperation are an important part of supporting the implementation of tasks in the operating area,” he said.
The Head of Public Relations also added that in the future, the Task Force will continue to carry out law enforcement and prevention measures on an ongoing basis.
“Synergy between TNI, Polri, and the community is very necessary to prevent the circulation of narcotics and keep the security situation conducive,” he concluded.
Currently, the investigation process is still ongoing to reveal the parties responsible for the case.
