Mimika – Governor of Central Papua, Meki Fritz Nawipa, SH, together with the Deputy Governor of Central Papua, Deinas Geley, S.Sos, M.Si, made a working visit to the Papuan Taruna Dormitory School (SATP) located on Sopoyono Street SP 4, Wania District, Mimika Regency. In this visit, the Governor was accompanied by Mimika Regent, Johannes Rettob, and Mimika Deputy Regent, Emanuel Kemong, who also paid attention to the development of education in the region.
On that occasion, Governor Meki Nawipa expressed his appreciation and gratitude to PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) and the Amungme and Kamoro Community Empowerment Foundation (YPMAK), which has been playing an important role in supporting education in Papua through the scholarship program for students at SATP Timika.
“I really appreciate PT Freeport Indonesia and YPMAK who have contributed greatly to the world of education in Papua, especially through the scholarship program at SATP Timika. This program really helps Papuan children in getting quality education and boarding school, so that they can study well and comfortably,” said Governor Nawipa.
Furthermore, he emphasized that during his leadership, he will focus on building a leading education sector in eight districts in the Central Papua Province. To make this happen, he plans to invite various institutions that have successfully managed pilot schools, including YPMAK and PTFI, to discuss the best strategies in developing the education sector in Central Papua.
“Education is the main key in improving the quality of human resources in Papua. Therefore, we will continue to strive to strengthen cooperation with various parties, including institutions that have experience in managing quality schools in Papua. We want to give the best for the young generation of Central Papua,” he added.
This visit is one of the concrete steps of the Central Papua Provincial Government in improving the quality of education in its region. With the support from various parties, it is hoped that education in Central Papua can be more advanced and have a positive impact on the future of the next generation in the region.
