Mimika, Central Papua – Personnel of the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2026, Timika sector, successfully apprehended a member of an armed criminal group (KKB), identified by the initials T.J. alias K. alias A.W., on Sunday (April 26, 2026) at approximately 10:56 WIT in the SP 2 area, Mimika Regency.
T.J. was listed as a wanted suspect (DPO) under Warrant Number: DPO/S-34/01/II/2026/Reskrim, in connection with a shooting incident involving a civilian, Ahmad Gunawan, which occurred on February 12, 2026, at the Ilu Health Center intersection, Puncak Jaya Regency, resulting in the victim’s death.
Responding to the incident, the Head of Public Relations of Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2026, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., stated that the operation was carried out through a measured process based on intensive field monitoring.
“The arrest was conducted after the team carried out surveillance and successfully identified the suspect’s location in the SP 2 Timika area. When officers attempted to secure him, the suspect resisted and tried to flee into the nearby forest. Officers then pursued and applied firm and measured action, which struck the suspect’s left leg,” he explained.
He added that after being secured, the suspect was immediately taken to Bhayangkara Hospital in Timika to receive medical treatment before undergoing further examination and investigation.
The Head of Public Relations also revealed that the suspect is part of the KKB Mewoluk group led by Ternus Enumbi. The individual had been actively moving across several regions, including Puncak Jaya, Beoga, Intan Jaya, and Mimika, in an attempt to evade security forces while also seeking additional firearms and ammunition.
Meanwhile, the Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2026, Inspector General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., emphasized that the operation reflects the commitment of law enforcement to take firm action against armed violence perpetrators.
“The arrest of this wanted suspect demonstrates our seriousness in maintaining security and protecting the public. Every perpetrator of armed violence will be processed professionally in accordance with applicable laws,” he stated.
In addition, the Deputy Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2026, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., urged the public to remain calm and not be easily influenced by unverified information.
“We call on all members of the public to remain calm and support law enforcement by providing accurate information. Community participation is crucial in maintaining a safe and conducive security environment,” he said.
