Wamena – The Jayawijaya Regency Government (Pemkab), Papua Pegunungan continues to show its commitment in maintaining interfaith harmony through strengthening the values of tolerance in the community. This is realized through the 1447 Hijriah/2026 Ramadan Safari activity which is led directly by the Regent of Jayawijaya, Atenius Murib.
The activity that took place in the Wamena region became an important momentum in strengthening the relationship between the local government and the community, especially the Papuan Muslim community in Jayawijaya Regency. In his statement, Thursday, Regent Atenius Murib emphasized that the Ramadan Safari is not just a ceremonial agenda, but a real form of government presence in taking care of togetherness in the midst of diversity.
“This Ramadan Safari is a form of attention and commitment of the local government in maintaining and strengthening the values of tolerance between religious people in Jayawijaya,” said Atenius Murib.
The series of activities began with a visit to a number of Muslim communities, including the Al-Muhtadin Mosque in Yagara Village and the Al-Aqsha Walesi Mosque. On that occasion, the Regent who was accompanied by the Head of the Jayawijaya Regency PKK Mobilization Team, Idawati Waromi Murib, handed over aid in the form of staples and takjil food to the community to support the needs of iftar.
In addition to the distribution of aid, this activity is also filled with direct fellowship with residents, which takes place in a warm atmosphere and full of togetherness. The community welcomes the presence of the local government which is considered capable of strengthening social relations and strengthening the sense of cross-religious brotherhood.
Meanwhile, the Head of Cartenz Peace Operations, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, said that efforts to strengthen tolerance as done by the Jayawijaya Regency Government are a strategic step in maintaining the stability of security and public order in the Mountainous Papua.
“We really appreciate the activities that encourage the creation of harmony and togetherness in the community. Tolerance is the main key in keeping the kamtibmas situation conducive,” he said.
In line with that, Deputy Head of Cartenz Peace Operations, Kombes Pol Adarma Sinaga, added that the synergy between the local government and the community is very important in creating a safe and peaceful environment.
“We invite all elements of the community to continue to maintain unity and not be easily provoked by issues that can be divisive. Togetherness like this must continue to be maintained,” he said.
Through this Ramadan Safari activity, it is hoped that the values of tolerance and togetherness in Jayawijaya Regency will be stronger, as well as becoming a positive example for other regions in building harmony in the midst of diversity.
