Papuan Indigenous Youth Leader: “Safeguard Peace and Order in the Land of Papua”

Jayapura, September 17, 2025 – The Chairman of Papuan Indigenous Youth, Jan Christian Arebo, has urged communities across Papua and Indonesia to accept the Constitutional Court’s (MK) ruling on the 2025 Papua gubernatorial election dispute with sincerity and maturity.

He reminded that the decision delivered by the Court is final and binding, as part of the nation’s legal process aimed at ensuring justice and legal certainty for all parties.

“I call on all Papuans—from the mountains to the coast, from Sabang to Merauke—to accept this decision with open hearts, sincerity, and maturity,” said Arebo on Wednesday.

He appealed to citizens to uphold peace and security throughout Papua and resist provocations from irresponsible groups seeking to divide unity.

“We are one. We are Papua. We are Indonesia. Whoever has been declared the elected governor must be accepted and supported by all,” he stressed.

Arebo further urged people to give the new leader space to carry out their duties for the progress and welfare of Papua.

“Let us show the world that Papua is a land of peace, a land of tolerance, and a land that upholds law and unity. With the spirit of brotherhood, solidarity, and togetherness, we will overcome this period peacefully,” he concluded.
