Jayapura, Papua – Max Ohee, Deputy Chair II of the Papuan People’s Assembly (MRP), has called on communities across Papua to actively maintain peace and avoid being swayed by negative provocations.
Reflecting on past incidents across Indonesia where public demonstrations have led to casualties and material losses, Ohee said such events should serve as a lesson for all Indonesians.
He expressed appreciation to students in Jayapura who recently staged a peaceful demonstration, as well as to security forces who helped ensure the event concluded safely and in an orderly manner.
“We invite all communities in Papua to participate in safeguarding peace in our land. We must create a conducive environment, not be influenced by negative issues, and learn from past events wisely so that we make the right decisions,” Ohee stated.
He further emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation in overcoming challenges together.
“With all our shortcomings and limitations as human beings, this is the time to walk together, complement one another, and stand side by side. By doing so, we can build a harmonious society and achieve prosperity and peace in Papua,” he added.
