Jayapura – The simultaneous repeat regional elections in seven regencies and one city across Papua have become a crucial moment for both citizens and community leaders. Following the vote, Papua community leader Yonas Nusi called on all elements of society to safeguard peace and unity in the post-election period.
Participation in the election, he noted, was an expression of civic responsibility aimed at producing leaders who embody the people’s aspirations.
“Several stages of the election process have been completed, and voting is now over. At this moment, we are still waiting for the official counting and announcement from the General Elections Commission (KPU),” Yonas said.
As a respected community figure, Yonas urged citizens to maintain order, unity, and a peaceful environment, stressing that every vote is vital in shaping the nation’s future.
“Once again, let us work together to preserve harmony in Papua, avoid provocation, and uphold peace. Political differences must never divide the bonds of brotherhood and national unity,” he emphasized.
Yonas concluded by reminding the public to accept the eventual outcome with dignity and move forward collectively. “Whoever is chosen represents the will of the people. Let us support them together for the progress of Papua,” he stated.
