Mimika, Papua – The Head of the Early Awareness Forum (FKDM) of Mimika Regency, Lucky Mahakena, S.Sos., M.Si., has called on all elements of Papuan society to strengthen unity and maintain security as a key foundation for accelerating development in the region. The appeal was delivered in his official statement on Wednesday (June 25).

Lucky, who is also a respected academic and community figure in Papua, believes that now is a critical moment for the Papuan people to actively participate in advancing their region, especially given the significant support provided by the central government.

“The central government has shown tremendous commitment to Papua, from infrastructure development and human resource empowerment to substantial financial support. It is now our turn to reciprocate that trust by maintaining peace and security,” he stated.

He emphasized that security is a fundamental prerequisite for successful development. Without a safe and stable environment, strategic government programs, he said, cannot be implemented effectively.

Lucky also highlighted the importance of collaboration among all elements of society, including traditional leaders, local authorities, the military, and the police, to create a peaceful and productive atmosphere.

“We cannot delay progress any longer. Papua must rise and close the development gap. This can only happen if all sectors of society work hand in hand to uphold order and build lasting security,” he explained.

According to him, Papua holds great potential to become a vital pillar in realizing the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045. With its abundant natural resources and strong human capital, Papua can thrive and become self-reliant—provided that peace is preserved.

“If Papua is secure, development will accelerate. The economy will grow, education will improve, and people’s welfare will increase. This is how Papua can contribute meaningfully to Indonesia’s future,” he added.

In closing, Lucky urged community leaders across Papua to take the lead in promoting social harmony and to serve as role models in their respective areas.

“Let’s start with ourselves—by protecting our families, our communities, and our land. The future depends on the actions we take today,” he concluded.
