Jayapura City — The sun was leaning westward when a group of uniformed officers from Operation Peace Cartenz-2025 arrived at the shores of Hecnuk Beach on Saturday afternoon (May 17). They didn’t come with weapons or tactical vehicles, but with warm greetings, friendly smiles, and a genuine desire to connect with the coastal communities of Jayapura City.

Led by First Police Inspector Syahrir Mahyuddin, the Public Relations Task Force of Operation Peace Cartenz-2025 began their community outreach in Abepura District and continued along the route to Muara Tami District. Along the way, they didn’t just carry messages of security — they brought a spirit of peace and a commitment to building mutual trust.

At Hecnuk Beach, the atmosphere quickly turned warm and welcoming. Children ran excitedly to greet the officers, some inviting them to play, others giggling shyly when spoken to. Mothers and community leaders welcomed them with open arms, engaging in light conversation about their hopes for a more peaceful Papua.

Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., head of Operation Peace Cartenz-2025, stated that such initiatives are not new, but they continue to be strengthened as part of a more human-centered approach.

“We want to instill the idea that the police are not just here to maintain security, but are an integral part of the community itself,” he said, accompanied by Deputy Operation Chief Police Commissioner Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum.

Echoing this sentiment, Public Relations Task Force Chief Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., emphasized the importance of dialogue-based approaches amidst Papua’s complex social dynamics.

“We are committed to fostering togetherness and social harmony. This isn’t just about patrolling — it’s about touching hearts,” he said.

From Hecnuk Beach to Muara Tami, the small steps taken that afternoon may not change everything overnight. But in the smiles of children playing with police officers, and in the warm greetings exchanged between residents and law enforcement, the seeds of peace in Papua are quietly beginning to grow.
