Jayapura, Papua – The Papua Provincial Government has allocated a grant of IDR 165.95 billion to support the smooth implementation of the re-vote for the 2025 Papua gubernatorial election, scheduled for August 6, 2025. The grant was formalized through the signing of a Regional Grant Agreement (NPHD) between the provincial government and key stakeholders, including the General Election Commission (KPU), the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and the National Police (Polri). The signing ceremony was held at the Governor’s Office in Jayapura and witnessed by the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Ribka Haluk.

The funds will be distributed to several agencies responsible for the election process: KPU Papua (IDR 93 billion), Bawaslu Papua (IDR 38.95 billion), the Papua Police (IDR 20 billion), and the XVII/Cenderawasih Military Command (IDR 14 billion). However, the disbursement for KPU and Bawaslu will be adjusted based on the remaining budget from the previous election. Thus, the funds to be disbursed amount to IDR 45.08 billion for KPU and IDR 31.95 billion for Bawaslu.

Steve Dumbon, Chairman of KPU Papua, stated that the initial budget estimate for the re-vote was IDR 170 billion. However, cost efficiency was achieved by reducing travel expenses and optimizing the use of office facilities, significantly cutting overall expenditures.

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk commended the Papua Provincial Government for its swift action in supporting the re-vote process. She emphasized that this timely financial support demonstrates the government’s commitment to ensuring that democratic processes proceed smoothly.

With this funding support, it is expected that all stages of the re-vote will be carried out as planned, maintaining a peaceful and conducive atmosphere in Papua leading up to the election day.
